A couple on my tour told me her family had rented an old coastal house in NC for a family get together. The father told them one morning about seeing a figure in a doorway when he had gotten up in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom. He was dressed like a sailor from a period back in the days long gone. It just stood there and slowly began to vanish. The son in law who was relating the story said he used to be in the coast guard and had been trained in interrogation so the first thing he noticed was the goose bumps on the fathers arms when telling the story (you can't fake goose bumps, I learn so much useful information on these tours, the smell of a decomposing body only lasts for about 6 weeks etc). He also said there was one of those college ruled notebooks by the front door where guests could leave comments about their stay. When he started to leaf through it to see if anyone else had mentioned strange things happening, he only then noticed a lot of pages missing (like 100 he said). When he read what was there, there was one particularly lengthy one and buried in the middle of a pleasant review (the management company would not read every word of every review) was a paragraph about, oh, by the way, the house is haunted and what they had seen. Sorry Debbie, I didn't get the address. Next time.
