I occasionally get someone on my tour who is adamant about seeing a ghost (this post is for Debbie). The owner at the 1790 Inn, considered one of the most haunted B&B's in the US advised one such person on my tour "it would not make her day". I will add to that I see it night after night, some people have experiences, get pictures and some don't. It gets a little more complex than that and I advise people, "what ever the deal is we'll never really know". Some sightings I believe are not the energy of the person relating to the spirit but the energy of the spirit relating to the person (age, gender, location, circumstances). For example I had a youngish married couple on my tour, he always saw the ghost, she never did. They lived in an old house in Detroit, the ghost was an old man and the husband would see him at the top of the stairs or he would wake up in the middle of the night and he would be standing beside their bed looking down at them. The husband said he was going to get a gun. I told him he was just going to put holes in the wall (not to mention scare the hell out of his wife). I told him to find out the history of the house. He said they had. Luckily there was an elderly women that lived in the neighborhood who told them all the land around them had been owned by a farmer. He had had four daughters and had built four houses for them so he could keep his eye on them. Obviously a control freak (to the grave). The house they lived in was the house he had built for his youngest daughter and he was still in that house showing his son-in-law, who wasn't his son-in-law, he was keeping an eye on his daughter, who wasn't his daughter.
