I've been hearing it pretty much from the beginning. It seems all these old hotels (they're all haunted, don't trust TripAdvisor) and some B&B's have guests complaining about children running up and down the halls at night. They never see them, the hotel knows of no children on that floor/in the hotel and B&B's know who's in the building and who isn't. A few weeks ago a couple told me they were in a hotel in Alaska and their two small children were running up and down the hall and when asked they said they were playing with "the children". The parents didn't see any and thought it must be one of those games children make up on their own. Now comes the twist. Last night on the tour a couple asked me if I knew if their hotel was haunted. I told them there were stories (one being children running up and down the halls), not because the hotel was old but there were once tunnels under it used to smuggle slaves in from River Street. She said it was strange, when I was talking about this running thing in the hotels that she immediately thought of that morning their daughter informed them she just felt like running up and down the hall and she didn't know why. The only explanation I can give is the sheer number of child deaths in those days were extremely high and they just want the childhood they never got. It may explain the large number of child ghosts reported too.
