I always suspected it but was told by people in the hospitality industry on the tour it wasn't possible. There are no reviews on TripAdvisor about any of the old hotels here in Savannah that mention hauntings and I've heard stories from the people on my tours about each and every one of them. Last night I stopped in front of the River Street Inn to tell some stories I'd heard about it and a couple said they were staying there (it's one of my favorite parts about this job). They actually added one, she said she was getting ready in the morning and something kept poking her in her knee, hard! The Marshall House has a disclaimer in small letters on one page on their website and The Planters Inn sends a disclaimer along with your confirmation.
Last week on the tour I had a girl who worked at a hotel that had a reputation for being haunted (she said the staff could tell stories) and they could get in there and kick out the "we had a ghostly experience" reviews. Most people don't know how TripAdvisor works but hotel reviews are their main source of revenue. People don't mind eating in haunted restaurant but not sleeping in a hotel. From what I've seen the "No Way In Hell's" far out number the "Oh Cool's" and they always win!
