This story came at the end of a tour when I asked if anyone had any questions (I meant about their stay in Savannah, restaurants, etc). A women said "no, you answered all my questions." I asked her what she meant and she told me about her experiences with her father-in-law hanging around the house. She and her husband had moved into her father-in-law's house after he passed away and started some fairly extensive remodeling. She kept seeing the father-in-law watching the progress but her husband never did and called her crazy. I asked her and she said yes, she and her father-in-law were close which explained to me why she saw him and her husband didn't. I told the tour in the beginning how spirits don't like remodeling or change and all the strange things that go on. It never scared her until one day she looked at the apparition and said "you're welcome to stay but this is how it's going to be, we live here now". It walked over, kissed her on the forehead and she never saw him again. The kiss was a little unnerving.
As a side note she told me she and her husband had a big fight about him never finishing a project before starting new one and she would never be able to sell the house (at this point he'd been told he was ill and didn't have long to live). After he was gone she said strange things would happen that led her to believe that he too was hanging around.
Her friend went to a psychic who said "Mike says it's okay to sell the house now. Does that make sense to you"? She put two and two together and told this women. I told her I believe sometimes you're doing the spirit a favor by telling them it's time to move on, there's a better place for them and I really believe this. Judging by what goes on in this town a lot of them didn't get "the memo". Sometimes, and that was the case here, the living don't mind the company.
