This story really brings up a good question about kindred spirits in this life, and afterwards. Sometimes I have a hard time believing these stories but I judge what I hear on my opinion of the person telling the story and how they present it. This one was told to me by two sisters and there were two more sisters sitting right there and they didn't roll their eyes or seem uncomfortable, just respectful if not a little indifferent because they had heard it before. You're going to have to follow me closely on this one . I had to stop them several times to back them up and ask questions to clarify some points.
One sisters mother-in-law passed away. She had a disturbing habit of inadvertently throwing out her good jewelry. Several times when asking for help they found it in the trash can and this sister had (probably frequently) made comments about it because she was throwing out her expensive jewelry. She and a couple of her sisters were clearing out the mother-in-laws house and stayed over night. Before bed she put her diamond earrings in a dish she had specially set aside to take with her and keep. The next morning one was missing. They all looked high and low and you guessed it, found it in the trash can. Now it gets interesting.
The sister who's mother-in-law that had passed away was cleaning out the trash cans in her house one day and she found a stainless steel cross in a trash can. She asked her son. He'd never seen it before and didn't know how it got there. She went so far as to call her husband who was working in China and he didn't have a clue and reminded her he had been there for 2 weeks. She talked to one of her sisters everyday because she had suddenly lost her husband (and she was a good sister) and happened to mention it. Her sister (two states away) described it and the inscription on the cross. When she was removing her husbands things from the hospital she was going through his wallet and noticed the cross he always carried, to the point it dug in and quickly ruined every wallet they ever bought him was missing. She looked everywhere, no cross.
So to capsulize this in case you got lost... a sister who's mother-in-law that mistakenly kept throwing out her good jewelry dies and her sister who's husband dies 3 months later 2 states away can't find the cross he always carried only to end up in the first sisters house (2 states away) in her trash can.
I asked them, what was the relationship between these totally unrelated people? The reply was simple enough. They said at all family gatherings (weddings etc) these two were always huddled together talking and carrying on. They're still huddled together and letting everyone know they're all right. You can't make this stuff up.
